Quest for Smørrebrød, Epilogue

The Smørrebrød Quest

When I arrived in Denmark, I thought that I would be able to indulge in smørrebrød, open faced sandwiches, where ever and when ever I wanted.  After all, Danes have turned open faced sandwiches into high art.   Much to my shock and dismay, it turns out that the art of the sandwich is a very difficult thing to find in the old country these days.

Wonderful, Wonderful Copenhagen

With her harbour lights, that she wears at night

Like a golden, golden crown

Bakken, Copenhagen

Unlike Tivoli, which is refined and a bit high in the instep, Bakken is a working man’s amusement park.  You take the S train to the

Of course there are hipsters that have tried to update the smørrebrød, like Aaman’s  in Copenhagen and Onkel A in Vejle. Continue Reading →

My Danish Food Wish List

What else is there to live for?

Danish Food

Because the damp coast is so pathetic when it comes to Danish food – unless you make it yourself – it’s an incredible treat to come to a country where everything is readily available.  Here is the food I’m hoping to get to while in DK. Continue Reading →
